I have a nickel plated hand gun, and the nickel plating is flaking off! The dealer has told me it is due to my hand loads; therefore, no warranty work will be done. Could this be true? The loads are not supposed to be hot according to the Hornady reloading manual. There are no pressure signs on the brass either.
It depends on the handgun. True nickle plating does not flake off until the bond is broken mechanically and oxidation starts in the steel under the plating.
If it's something like a Larson or Sterling, or other cheap handgun it'll be chrome plated and it falls off from the stresses on the metal....it's too brittle.
The dealer has nothing to say about it anyhow. Talk to who made it.
I found your gun good buddy. However I don't think that it's nickel plating that's falling off. It's probably just paint, here's a good picture of your troll gun: 2 Bore's Pistol
George - I think The Squid (aka 2 Boring) has been using some duplex loads of bullshit. His and his "wife," the mysterious and medically uninformed "DOCTOR JUDY."

The dealer has no say-so in the matter & the fact that he must think that he does says a lot about him.
