FrostbitStocks fro pre-64 M70 suggestions
Has anyone re-stocked a pre-64 with a synthetic stock, which model, how do you like the fit?

DeweyI have over a dozen P-64s in various synthetic handles, from .375H&H to .264WM and have had others down to .243Win. A GOOD synthetic makes the old Winny into one of the finest serious hunting-wilderness working rifles one could wish for.
I have Pacific Research, Borden-Rimrock, Brown Precision, and Micky's of several types, including the Edge and like all of these. I had a Clifton years ago, hell for stout, but, too heavy and it was originally on my first Alaskan .338WM, my most treasured possession and then on my first .375H&H, now traded off.
The standard weight Mickies and Browns work very nicely on my four original Alaskans in .338WM and the Edges on my Fwts in .270 and .30-06. I have Rimrocks on a minty pair of P-64s originals in .300-.375H&H and am very happy with all of these rifles.
A really nice rig is a heavy old Std in .30-06 or .270 re-stocked with a Micky Edge and this brings the weight down where you want it and you still have that long, heavy ACCURATE and FAST tube to get the maximum benefits from.
I have now owned 42 P-64s since 1968 and this is the one modification that really does improve these fine old rifles.
