I have gotten on Clymers website and saw that they can custom make reamers. I wanted to know if I get a barrel that is short chambered will it have any effect on freebore length, diameter and angle. I was thinking of having a reamer made with the demensions of a standard 300 Win Mag but with the freebore length, diameter and angle of the 300 win ackley imp. The action I want to use (post 64 long action) does not give much room for overall length. With the shorter freebore smaller diameter and shallower angle I think it would work pretty good in that action. I would also be able to use standard 300 ammo. Then again I could be wrong.

Call Dave Kiff at Pacific Tool and Gauge, it's pretty well established with 95% of referals to PTG for reamers that he's the best in the buisness.

He'll make what ever you want for $135.00, just tell him what you want and he'll be more than happy to help you with all the details, big or small.

CALL, don't email him, (541-826-5808) talk to him personally and get get all the details down on paper over the phone, get him to have the girls email you a copy of the reamer plan to double check the figures you agreed on, sign it and wright "approved", email it back to him and call and tell "Dave" personally to go ahead and make it up as approved on your emailed copy.

Clarify and double check EVERYTHING with him then give him the go ahead and it'll be to you in 4-6 weeks.

Good luck and enjoy! [Smile]

So far I've used 4 of Dave's reamers. What I notice that they cut equally on all flutes !!

Thank you everyone for all the info. I would also like to be able to find the specs for other reamers out there to compare different throats for different rounds. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it very much.

Also on another note I went to your website Clio and wanted to know if the mauser actions you have listed are commercial? I am still debating on using the winchester action or a mauser.

P.S. What time zone is Mr. Kiff in?
