I have a rifle that uses a 1 standing, 1 folding iron sight configuration, on a quarter rib. What I need to know is, who is the most competent person that you would recommend to File-in the Iron Sights, using my loads? It currently shoots 9" high @ 100 yards.

I have considered doing this myself, but I don't wish to take the risk of screwing up a nice gun.

Hey Ray, do you perform this type of work? If so, what's it going to cost me???

Have you thought about just getting a taller front sight? Wouldn't have to file down the rear then. If you list the sight radious I can tell you how much taller a front sight you need. For instance, if you have a 18" sight radius, you will need a .045" taller front sight. If a 20" radius, a .050" taller sight is needed. 16" yields a .040" taller front. Give me the exact distance from the back of the rear sight to the back bead face of the front sight and I'll give you the exact hight you need.

I have done this quite often and find the biggest problem is that the customer has to use the same sight picture as I in order for it to work out. So the job is comprised of two parts: filing the sight and training the shooter! Seriously it is not that big a deal just take it slow. Regards, Bill.
