I was told with shotguns that the breech block/barrels can be bored out and new barrels sweated in or soldered. Where can I find information how this is performed with the double rifles and how the barrel assemblies are created. Thanks

Unless you just want a project, you might start with the new EAA double rifle as is or rebored by LaBounty to another caliber (assuming he wants to fool with them). You can also keep up with the thread four down from here. [ 10-31-2003, 19:54: Message edited by: tigertate ]

Double rifles are horrendously expensive for a reason. It is extremely difficult to regulate the barrels so they shoot in the same place with one sight. More so than with a shotgun. If the two barrels are not precisely installed they will not shoot to anywhere near each other. There is no cheap FNG way to do this. It takes experience and skill.

rebarreling is not really difficult BUT regulating is another story even after reborring sometime that funny remenber than most big bore ( 577 and over ) have special actridge load to let able the two barrel grouping so ... If you want to go with something funny purchase a predesoli double in 45/70 AFTER To have check barrel regulating and make it rechamber in 450 Nitro or something close if you plan to have fun you can put rifled barrel on 10 gauge spanish shotgun double and shoot slug , energy is impressive nad recoil i s fun . best double is 8 gauge rifled after 577 3 inch and 500 3 inch good shooting DAN TEC

I'm trying to decide whether I want to take on such a project for myself. Maybe I'll find and old one for a cheap price. I do like the look of a double gun the larger caliber the better. Are the barrels threaded or soldered in the monoblock or is this all one piece.I know the shotgun guys will just drill out the barrel block and sweat in a new barrel but the rifles are much higher pressure than shotshell.
