RollandWTB barrel .311 1-9 twist
I am embarking on a new project and would like to find a barrel used or otherwise. It will be threaded for a small ring 93 Mauser and re-chambered to 7.62 x 39. Since it will be a lightweight carbine need a standard weight or lighter 20 to 24 in lenght.
Look in the goody pile and see what you have got.
Update
Found a SMLE No.1 Mk 3 will work but I don't have one

matt salm http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/a...h-edition-raw-blank/Contour it yourself and save some $. After contouring, cast a lap and lap the bore and you’ll have a fine shooter.
Shoot straight, shoot often.

SnellstromRolland a quick fix would be to look for a Zastava Mini Mauser, even more compact than a 93 and lighter and comes in 7.62x39.

customboltNo messin' required.

RollandBut the whole purpose is messin, I have the 93 action at no cost and a NOS Fajen stock. When you are retired things like this are for fun projects.
Besides I don't have one

I understand that sentiment completely, I know what you mean when you have the parts for a project and part of the satisfaction is finally using that stuff up for a worthwhile purpose.
"I'm going to do it this way because I can" is the mantra of my life !
Good luck on your project.
Check Sarco for barrels.

butchlambertWhy .311? I have one and chose to buy a 308 barrei and load with 308 bullets.

I thought that since most of the milsup uses a.311 bullet would stick with that. Not sure what the pressures would be in a .308 bore. Sure as anything someone would use the military load in the smaller bore.
But.......I am open to suggestions/ideas/and some opinions

I have shot the .311 bullets in mine without problems, but When I reloaded I used the 308 bullets. Remember, it is only .003 larger in diameter. About the thickness of a hair. This is in my Zestava Mini Mauser. It is now chambered in 220 Russian, the parent case of the PPC. Factory ammo is available if you don't reload, but I don't know how available it happens to be.

matt salmHow large of shank/tenon dimensions do you need? I have some brand new takeoff Howa 7.62x39 barrels. They are about 1.1" at the shoulder and 22X1mm thread .850" long. I have several of them.
Shoot straight, shoot often.

dpcdHe needs a .980 shank for at least .700 or so; 93s have no internal shoulder so you need at least a little one on the barrel to hold the barrel on. Or use a nut like a Savage. So the 22mm section has to be cut off....yours would work I think.

matt salmGiven DCPD’s description of shank dimensions these barrels would work and would be flyweights. I have 4 20” takeoffs and they are 1.1” diameter ahead of the threads for just over 1” in length. I know I have one 22” on a rifle I opened up to a .311 Grendel chamber to play with and possibly one new one still on a rifle that is 22”. I can take that one off if you’d like to try it.
Shoot straight, shoot often.
