The third installment of my African Battery is finally done. I now have a 375 H&H, 404 Jeffery, and a 458 Lott in the bag. All are on pre-64 model 70 long mag actions. They sport Rick Stickley integrallt milled barrels with full sight package, Blackburn bottom metal and Preslick wood. The 375 and the 404 are done in a traditional English style and the Lott has a more American Classic look to it. they are a fine set. I also took delivery of a rifle made from a commercial Mauser that was smithed by Herman Waldron in 3006. Done in a classic English style in Fine Turkish walnut from Lexus Walnut. I hope to post pictures of these fine rifles soon. Since we aren't getting any grand children any time soon, I'm spending my cash on one of my girlfriends, 375, 404, 3006!!!!!!

Sorry, I forgot to mention Winston Elrod of Michigan did much of the finish work on the metal as well as the stock work. He is a relatively unknown gunmaker but very good at what he does. He has a classic eye and great hands. I am especially proud of the Waldron 3006.

You know you are right. This gun stuff is an addiction. You really can't get enough. I no more than took delivery of these last two and made an order for two more. I really am running out of styles and calibers of rifles to make. I have a Kurtz action that is dying to become a mini express rifle in either 250 Savage or 6.5x54 Mauser. I saw one in Turpins book and it really makes my heart sing. I am searching for the perfect 404 Jeffery. I talked to Clayton Nelson about one on a standard 98 with drop box and his special sight package. I would like it in a light configuration weighing in at about 8 lbs dry. I am also looking to do another 9.3x64 Bren, again on a commercial Orberndorf action. I am having trouble finding good commercial actions now.

Instead of that 9.3 Brenneke why not go with the 9.3 X 70 and have something really classic.

I was thinking about an alternative to the Brenneke and the 0.3x70 was an option. Is commercial brass available? Whom chambers for that round. I thought that a take down with 9.3x70 and a 404 Jeffery would be just fine for most hunting world wide. Starting with an Orberndorf Mauser or Granite Mountain Arms action would just about do it.
