I have just bought a .30-06 rsm from Aaron at castle arms. If feasible I intend to have it made into a takedown with a scout scope on the quarter rib. Anyone out there have any advice to share? Is this project feasible?

Thanks for any help you might give.

The conversion to takedown will probably cost a lot more than the rifle did originally.

If you just want to make it more compact for travel, have it 'glass bedded; then, just remove the barreled action from the stock and pack the halves in a shorter gun case. It should reassemble very close to its original position.

Im after a real takedown rifle, just 'cause I want one. Then after I have it Ill want another barrel and forearm in 9.3x62.

Fred Zeglin at z-hat custom guns (www.z-hat.com) has a neat takedown shown on his site.
