According to Brownell's:

Measure barrel diameter at the loaction of the rear sight and divide by 2

To this figure added the total height of the rear sight to be used (if adjustable, use the middle height)

Measure the barrel diamter at the location of the of the front sight and divide by 2

Subtract this figure from the total height of the rear sight

Result is the height of the front sight above the axis of the bore

Consult the Marble sight/Ramp height chart and choose the combination of ramp and sight which is closest to the height above the axis of the bore.

Sometimes I get around this by useing a NECG adjustable front sight and the Precise Win. M-70 375 Super grade shallow V on a screw gizzie that has a world of adjustment in it, it's also a pretty sight...Saves a lot of headaches as the formula is iffy at times...that formula is in the Brownells catalog btw..
