I apologize if this has been discussed previously - I looked but didn't see anything (no SEARCH on this site). I have a Ruger Safari in .458 Lott. Now that I have sent the rifle back to the factory for an in-spec firing pin (original was too short which resulted in the rifle firing only 20% of the time), I am working with the rifle for an upcoming cape buffalo hunt. Has anyone upgraded to an aftermarket trigger for one of these rifles (or similar)? I am thinking timney but would like your opinion and recommendation. None of my hunting rifles have less than a 3.5 to 4 pound pull, something I always see to. But they have a really crisp break with no overtravel, creep, or backlash. That - and absolute dependability - is what I want for this rifle, rather than the 8 pound trigger with about 5.7 miles of creep (though I will admit it's a smooth but heavy creep with no grittiness). Thanks in advance! | ||

G'Day Bohonkie, I own a Ruger MkII RSM in .375 H&H. I was able to do a trigger job on the factory trigger myself (I'm a qualified Mechanical Fitter-Machinist/General Engineer etc). This included reducing the amount of creep, polishing the sear surfaces and reducing the trigger pull to a constant, reliable and safe 3 pounds. Bohonkie, I assume any Competent Gunsmith in the US/Utah, should be able to do achieve similar results for you. Hope that helps Doh!
