Hi all,
In an earlier post several were talking about waxing there stock as a last step. What are the pros/cons of doing this?
Thanks, Doug

Well ; The pro side extra protection water proofing pore filling nice luster . Con ; must be removed with a solvent wipe or wash down prior to any repair or cosmetic touch up or reapplication of any finish other than the wax it's self .

Really LOOK at stock finishes prior to putting one on or into your stock . Decide what's right for your application .

I personally prefer two types of finishes . Modified oil finish ( urethane thinned soaked into the wood and one full strength coat as a last coat .After pore or filling excess grain of course . Buff polish with gunstock oil or any product having tung oil , Watco Danish oils have it .

My real favorite is two component urethane clear several coats buffed to a rock solid finish . Prior to that type of finish brush or spray one or two light coats on the checkering . When dry tape off checkering areas spray additional coats on entire stock . Buff and wax ; comes out like museum restored furniture !. use NGR or lacquer dye type stains prior to any finish to enhance your stocks color .

Shoot Straight Know your target . ... salute
