I have just rcvd a 45-70 smooth bore line throwing barrel for an h&r single shot. I was wondering if it would be safe to say......re-chamber it for 50 alaskan. Or any simmilar caliber. I would like to just get it rifled, but can one do that? I mean it seems like I would have to increase the bullet size to do so. Thanks for any input.-Ben

First question is, what size is the bore now?

Forget it, the barrel is to short to be a legal firearm. Rifles must have at least a 16" barrel and 26" oal.
