I know how to take down a 3 pos safety but what are the steps for a 2 pos? I want to send the shroud and safety lever away to be colour case hardened and I don't particularly want to send the whole bolt.

GG, place a penny in your vise with half of it sticking out of the jaws. Put the sear engagement surface of the cocking piece against the penny and pull the bolt until there is space between the the cocking piece and the shroud. Place a second penny into that space to hold the firing pin back. Unscrew the shroud/firing pin. Then put the firing pin tip into a hole in a bench block or piece of wood, press down on the shroud to release the pressure on the penny and remove it. Then you can press the shroud down farther and turn the cocking piece 90 degrees and remove it. Remove the shroud from the firing pin.

Don't put the tip of firing pin against the bench to press it down. It can be bent. Always place it in a small hole so as not to put pressure on the tip.

Try something of this nature. You need to hold the cocking piece back and out of the way so you can unscrew the bolt shroud from the bolt.
