Mark Clark.251 barrel blank
Yea, 25ACP
We have a customer who ordered a 25 ACP Contender barrel.
Any ideas on where to get a barrel blank?

analog_peninsulaMethinks someone has a customer with a warehouse full of .25 ACP ammo.
I was looking for another explanation, but came up empty.

MarkYou can get a liner from track of the wolf:
http://www.trackofthewolf.com/list/item.aspx/637/1Barrel liner for .25 Colt Auto, .243" bore, .250" groove, 1-14" twist, 6 grooves, 7/16" OD, price per inch, order the quantity in inches you require.
Then just find a cheap barrel to put it in. Long as no one rechambers it to 25-06 at some point in the future you should be OK I suspect.
Liner costs $5.89/inch
for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

May be the answer.
The barrel is to be only 5 1/2" so rechamber to anything unlikely.
Thank you

MarkIs the owner making a gallery gun out of this? Like others I am trying to figure out what the end purpose is going to be. With light loads this would be a fun gun to shoot in the basement.

speerchucker30x378I'd be careful shooting it in the house. It could very well leave dents in drywall, accidentally break a light bulb, scare the cat or annoy the wife with the smelly, little puffs of smoke.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

GrenadierI would think that one of the reboring fellows could make one to any bore, groove, and twist you want, perhaps by starting with a .22 barrel.
.

max(hm2)mr speerchucker sir,
since I retired my goal everyday is to scare cats and annoy the wife.

jeffeossoNeat project... a rook / garden rifle in a TC with readily available ammo...
Oddly enough, it is legal to hunt big game in Texas with, as it is a centerfire cart.... but woe on yee that would use the more powerful 22lr

Mark ClarkThe customer wants a 5.5" barrel, just past the short fore end. I did not talk to him so I am not in on why a 25. But would be fun.
25acp get a bad rap because ballistics are done with a very short barrel, about 2". 50 grain at 850
22LR is tested in a 16" barrel, hardly a fair comparison. Someone with Quick load should see what the 25 will do fron a 16".
A thread needs to be started 223 vs. 25 ACP for Deer. Out of a rifle or Contender pistol a deer or hog could be taken with a very well placed shot but I would want Jeff backing me up with the 550 Mag.
People say, "That ##€£¥#% 25 won't even hurt." I say "Let me shoot you if you believe that."

dpcdHere is a true story; when I was stationed at Ft Stewart, my boss had a .25 Beretta that wouldn't function; I took it and put a new recoil spring in it, took it out into the woods and test fired it as a big beech tree. The bullets did not even penetrate into the wood; the bases were flush with the outside of the bark. Even a .22 will do better. It did function.

ramrod340With a 50gr in a 5" about 950fps in a 16" about 1150. Those are close to max from QL. Compared to a 22lr 40gr at about 1050.
Most factory ammo claims around 760fps with a 50gr. I assume short barrel?
As usual just my $.02

Would be a legal big game round with a 5 inch barrel in wis
I always thought a 16 inch contender in that caliber would be neat
And no its not me looking for one

theback40Someone had a Competitor barrel made up in .25 auto.
It may have been a Walther barrel blank. Al Straitiff is very sick or I would call and ask him about it.

too funny .. most of my trail and "pocket" loads for 22lr is the 22SSS ...i built a pistol around that load, and bought a few rounds... its 60gr at 800 ... and easily goes those 2x4, and some times 4x4s....
and yeah, i'll back you.. but you have to call the shot for me to shoot your animal ... i won't pull the trigger till the shooter declares it

Idaho SharpshooterI watched a gentleman get shot in the back from about thirty feet with one of those pipsqueaks. Second shot the gun jammed. The guy went down, got up, grabbed a bar stool and clocked the guy who shot him. He had been screwing the guy's wife.
Four months late, he was able to stand trial for murder. To no one's surprise, he was acquitted.
The guy was big, about 6'2" and 260 or so, but still...

Mark ClarkBarrel blank was delivered today (sounds of trumpets and angels singing)
Only took 7 months!
I turned the shorty, 6", contender barrel for the customer.
We have about 17" left. A center fire rifle, let's go elk hunting.

p dog shooterjust thinking it would be a legal deer gun in Wis
just don't know if I want to prove the point that one could kill deer with a 25acp.
Be kind of fun to do and post it here I can hear the howls already.
