I've got a new CZ 527 American, .222R. The bottom rings when mounted to the action are parallel and true. It is not possible to mount a scope as the horizontal joint on both rings is too small to permit a 1" inch scope to drop into the cradle or the top half to fit over the scope. Measurement suggests the constriction is limited to the ring clamping screw area.. Can anyone lap these rings to accept a 1" scope for me for a small fee? I would like to use them if possible. ned

Better off to find someone who can "ream" them rather than "lap" them. And they will need the rifle. Or, get a 1" diameter steel bar and open the ring caps using that as a "form".

Go to the Clymer site and look at page 26 of the catalog, "Scope Ring Alignment Reamer". Brownell's may also carry it. They make it in 1" and 30 M/M.

I have the 1" model but it's in Texas and I'm Florida until November or I'd lend it to you.

Thanks for the input. I'm calling a fellow I know here locally who has a nice assortment of bar stock. The comment about using a form strikes me as a viable cure as the measurements almost suggest the rings were squashed a few thousandths. ned

Ned,
Do the top half of the rings mate up correctly? If they appear to, measure several points around the hole and see if they are the same within 0.001". It's possible they were bored a tad bit undersize by mistake. If the hole is egg shaped or undersized, I'd be calling CZ USA for a new set of rings.
