Anyone have any experience with the Remington 700 Sendero line of rifles? What is the typical accuracy level from them?

Hunter,,I have had very good luck with the
Remington Sendero rifles,,had 3 in the last couple of years,,22-250,,270,,7mm mag. All
after proper breaking of the barrel,,shot very very well,,3/4 to .5 MOA was average out of box with hand loads. Dont think you
can go wrong with one.
Hope this helps ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Roger4

Rem 700 Sendero SS, .300 Win Mag

5 shots at 100 meters, out-of-the-box condition, except my own trigger tuning.

I'm pleased to hear these types of reviews as I ordered a new one in 270 Winchester yesterday.

Anxiously awaiting its arrival. Doubly so after seeing your results!

Thanks all!

Come now Andre, everyone knows the 300 Win Mag cannot be that accurate. The neck is way too short..................................yeah right.

Correct Rembo and I suspect that's why I can't get it to shoot into .25 MOA

Can anyone tell me what scope ring height this rifle will need for 1" scope with 42mm objective lens?

Is high rings needed or would mediums be enough?

Sorry Andre,.. couldn't resist! I had the exact same rifle as yours 3 years ago until I had to sell it in a brief(thankfully) period of unemployment. Mine had a Leupold 6.5-20 mounted. I can see yours has a Leupold also. I have shot a Rem 700 BDL in 300 Win for 10 seasons now and I'm always amazed at the "short neck" reputation of this round. Never been a problem for me and obviously not a problem for you and your Sendero. IMHO it's more of a "long throat/short magazine" problem, but that's another story. Nice rifle. Enjoy.

I have one buddy who shoots one in .300winmag for deer hunting, very accurate with Sierra's and Ballsitic tips.

One buddy who shoots a .308 as an entry level 1,000 Meter target rifle. He shot expert his first time out with it,but he is an accomplished service rifle shooter.

Have another buddy who has a .270 and it shoots really well also.

I have a Sendero SF in 25-06. The most accurate factory rifle I ever owned. First load .6 MOA. Eventually tuned it to .25 MOA. However, it does have a factory barrel. It's Much more difficult to break in. Shot out after 1000 rds. It's now being rebarreled.

My new Sendero came in, one of the first groups it shot put 5 holes in .75 inches, and that's with trigger pull at 4 and 1/2 lbs. I think it has potential.

Just for the sake of agument, I was wondering how all of you who have bought Sendarows recently would rate the over all quality of them. I ask because I absolutely love my Remmington rifles, and have seen and awfull lot of negative posts of late about the fit and finnish of remmington rifles made in the last five or so years. Mine were made less than five years ago and thay are of vary high quality and all shoot under .7" at 100yrds with hand loads.

I'm as big of a Remington fan as many though I will relate my one and only negative experience that happened recently. Picked up a NIB Remington Sendero that my brother had bought recently from MGSW in Texas. Rifle was stock except for a KDF Muzzle Brake. I put a Leupold LR 3.5-10x40 M1 on it in Leupold Dual Dovetails and dropped in a Jewell HVR trigger set at 1lb and headed for the range. I shot a total of one load, a factory 190 Grain HPBT Match loading that shot consistantly into a little more that .5" extreme spread. I suppose the group would be less that .5 MOA if you subtracted the caliber from the total measurement. In any event the rifle was accurate, did'nt recoil badly, and impressed me with a .5 MOA performance directly out of the box.

The problem came when I casually inspected the brass as a latter date. I noticed a bulge in the case body just before the shoulder. Sure enough there is a rather large chip missing in the chamber. It does'nt appear to be dangerous, however, it does'nt inspire confidence either. The other problem is a grinder mark that was on the bottom of the bolt nose. It appeared to be a cosmetic problem and hence did'nt draw a great deal of attention. Only when I cleaned the lug recesses and bolt did I realise that the bolt nose had developed a radial crack that ran perpendicular to the grinder mark. This after 40 rounds of Match 190. I've spoken with Remington and they're making no promises. The rifle was bought before they went to the "J lock" especially for that reason.

To give equal time, I picked a Remington 700 LTR in .308 that after bedding, a Jewell HVR, and a Leupold LR 8.5-25x50 in Dual Dovetails shoots one 175 Grain HPBT Match load into a quarter minute(3 shots) when I do my part. Two different rifles, both accurate, one somewhat of a basketcase.

Regards, Matt.
