I've recently come into posession of a well used Browning BLR in 243 win and the idea started to go through my mind that it would make a dandy little multipurpose rifle if it were cleaned up and redone in 25 souper!!! ![]() Come to think of it if there's not too much trouble I know where there's a 7mm RemMag that's just dieing to become a 264 WinMag!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

There is nothing unusual in rebarrelling a BLR. The only concern at all is to be sure the locking lugs are seated against the seats when taking the measurment for headspace. It is important to provide a slight cone at the face for feeding ease as is found on the factory barrel. There are no tricky cuts to be made so it is just like barrelling a Mauser in the end. The barrel band limits the amount that you can change the barrel contour. Regards, Bill.

Just a note, but there are two styles of BLR: the old steel frames where the bolt locks into the frame. The new aluminum ones lock into the barrel. Those would be a lot harder to rebarrel. FWIW, Dutch.
