I took apart a 300 win mag model 70 classic rifle today that I haven't used in 18 years. Putting it back together, I noticed it had no mag box in it??? A light bulb comes on, that's the reason the follower seemed to hang up! I vaguely remember robbing that mag box out of it to repair a rifle that needed a box. I just forgot to order a replacement. Okay, question becomes which mag box do I order. I have a nearly identical Laredo, took it apart and the mag box is marked ML. I presume Mag long. Numrich has them in stock, fortunately, and less than $15. The ML box has a rear block in it, about 1/8" from the back of the box. Now, I start thinking: I would like to be able to seat the bullets on the Laredo out a bit more. If I was to take the box from the Laredo and put it in the classic, and order a longer box for the Laredo, I'd have both rifles better than they started. Anybody know which mag box marking I have to order to get one with a longer capacity than the ML box? Anybody have one for sale? Thanks, dave

It is the box for the 300 Wby, 300H&H 7STW etc. Marked F? Problem with your swap is the difference in the two boxes is the spacer is missing in the rear of the box on the 300H&H box. So if you load your 300Wmag in it the case will slide to the rear. Unless you shorten the bolt stop and ejector your bolt will not go back far enough to pick up your case. I have a long box I can send you. If it works for you just reimburse me what ever you think it's worth. I think mine will hold the .375 H&H length cartridges. PM me if you want it. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Thanks, guys, Paul, you're right. Once I look, it'll be a fair amount of work to modify the action to use the longer box. I'll work with it as it is for awhile and then see if I want to do something different. Vapodog, Thanks for the offer. After considering the extractor/stop modifications needed to use the longer box, I think I'll just order the ML box, and work with that. dave

If you can find the 375 length bolt stop and ejector it is a 5 minute fix. I have simply shortened the ejector and bolt stop and it works fine. I prefer the factory units. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
