N. GarrettCustom bolt-release for M70
Does anyone here know of a custom fabrication for the bolt release on a Mod 70 Winchester?
The factory one looks (and works) fine, but a more elegant one would be nice with the right stock.
Thanks,
Garrett

Bill SovernsJim Dubell reworks the factory ones on every winchester rifle I build. He welds on some extra metal shapes a nice looking button and checkers it.

I worked with Dale Goens to come up with the shape of it.
It is available in smooth #3070C, or checkered #3070CC
Am currently out of inventory of the checkered, will have some more in about 30 days.

Why would he make one for an out of production rifle, and not for one in current production?
What kind of business savvy is that?

The pre 64 uses only ONE length of bolt stop regardless of caliber.
The post 64 action now has MANY LENGTHS in the RIGHT HAND BLUED ACTION depending on which caliber and age of the action.
From a 1977 parts list.
#2317 30-06, short magnums
#2417 243, 308
#2517 375 H&H
#20917 22-250, 225
#21917 222
From a 1992 parts list new for the then short action ( note this action is now a MEDIUM, since the SSM action is now out)
#41017 223. 22-250
#33417 7x57
Then we add the stainless action and the SSM action.
I also started making these for the pre 64 twenty years ago when people did not upgrade the post 64 push feed actions.

HP ShooterJust offer them for the common calibers in post 64 Classics. Maybe the WSMs if demand warrants. As for the rest, don't worry about it. They'll fade faster than hula hoops.
