Dear Customers and Friends,

We've got some Great News to tell you-the Brownells family is growing! After working out the details with our close friend, Bill Gravatt, President of Sinclair International, Brownells has purchased Sinclair International. Bill, Pete and I have been talking about the project for some time, and we all decided to go ahead and wrap it up and get to the business of serving you better!

The purchase means big things for both companies. For Brownells, we will be adding Bill to our Management Team, Marketing Team and Strategic Team while adding top quality reloading products to our growing family of products for you. For Sinclair, it will allow them to strengthen their product line for shooters of all disciplines.

Frankly, we are plum delighted. Brownells is the World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Accessories and Gunsmithing Tools. Likewise, Sinclair is known the world over for its high quality reloading tools and shooting accessories. Our strengths and skills, deep concern for our customers, extremely high levels of customer service and outstanding product lines definitely dovetail into each other. Together, under our extremely strong teams, we will be able to provide our customers with truly exemplary service - truly an all new benchmark of service, selection and satisfaction.

The Sinclair name isn't changing, their operation will remain at the facilities in Indiana.

It's exciting times for both our families and our family-owned and family-founded companies.

For more information go to www.brownells-sinclair.com.
Best Regards,
Frank Brownell
President

I'm with Rusty here but in all honesty I cannot see any change for the customer......and that's not all bad!

THE two best firearms suppliers I've dealt with in recent years............I just hope nothing changes.

Ever notice how both these outfits seem to always have their products in stock at good prices, good service, tech support, and deliver. Hmmmm perhaps there's something to be learned here.

I haven't bought much from Brownells but have relied on Sinclair for many years and have always been treated right.

Sinclairs has a loyal overseas customer base. I haven’t been able to get Brownells to ship anything to me for years now. Sure hope Sinclair doesn't take on the new “corporate line†on this policy.

I totally agree with Stu.

In the past, Sinclair has proven to be a nimble supplier of reloading and shooting related tools for their (non-US) customers. They have focused specifically on the accuracy part of the market, and supplied GREAT service. They even offer help in obtaining export permits for controlled items such as brass and bullets.

Brownells, on the other hand, has been a hit or miss proposition for us foreign customers. I have done a lot of business with Brownell's over the years, and I would have done a lot more if they had not decided to stop doing business with us for a while. It seems they service their foreign customers again these days (?), but the level of service has been no where close to what Sinclair has offered.

I sure hope Brownell's is not going to turn Sinclair's into a mirror image of its corporate self... I'd like to stay an active and loyal customer, if they'll allow me to do so.

In all fairness, I should post the reply I got from Brownells:

quote:
Dear Michael -

I wanted to thank-you for your comments on the acquisition of Sinclair. Your concerns about serving international customers is a bit confusing because Brownells has a very large business shipping internationally. Maybe your comments about Brownells international business being shut down was due to our miss-handling of your orders. If that is the case, we are sorry for this and would look forward to earn this business back.

One of the things with Sinclair is there international business success. We don't want to change how Sinclair does their job, we want to add value where it is needed. So, thank-you for pointing out one of Sinclair's successful operations.

This is good feedback. thank-you very much.

Pete Brownell

If that is the case, I'll stay a happy customer with both. Smiler

I live just across town from Sinclair Int'l. and buy from their retail counter. I received this news with mixed feelings. If it makes Sinclair stronger, great! I just hope this does not affect the great group of guys who work their.
What has made sinclair what it has been is the fact that the company was born out of competition shooting. Fred Sinclair (founder) was a benchrest shooter of a good bit of renown and a riflesmith. He knew what was needed for precision shooting and reloading and certainly knows quality when sees it. This has carried on and their product line reflects it. Also, EVERY employee at Sinclair is a shooter, whether it be benchrest, high power or varmint hunting. May this never change!
