Changing a Savage accutrigger to something else

What would be involved in changing an Accutrigger on a current Savage to another 'standard' type of trigger?

I am looking at Muzzleloaders and prefer the 'standard' type of trigger, and all the current ones have the Accutrigger, which I just don't care for as much as the 'standard triggers'

Are there many options??

Rifle Basix .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

Fish,

Just purchase a "Flat top" Savage. These are pre-2003 standard Savage guns. The only differences is the older models featured a "flat top" on the back receiver ring as opposed to the current "round top" currently used....Oh, and they were all pre-accutrigger models.. Wink

Not only can you pick these guns up used, at much better prices than the current models, (most people pay more for the accutriger models), you will have cash left over to customize your gun to your own desires.

I would recomend something like this:

Flat top 10ML
Timney aftermarket trigger $70
Bell and Carlson Duramx Drop in stock with custom spiderweb finish $120
Black Ice teflon finish..$130

In the end you will have an all-weather, top of the line, custom setup, for not much more than the price of an off the shelf gun.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

Bushcook, I'll look at Rifle basix and see what I can figure out, I am not one to fool with changing a trigger unless it is VERY straightforward and simple.

Jeff, thanks for the idea. I had been looking around for a 'pre-accutrigger' but had not been too lucky. I'll keep checking out GunBroker--Guns america won't even show a Savage ML'er if you do a search, and if you look up Savage off of the list, there are about 19 million rifles you'd have to pick through looking--I'm to lazy to do it.

I'll keep looking and thinking--Don

I just bought one last week..

I'll send you a link to another MZ board that has a classifieds forum...I would post a WTB thread there as they show up pretty often.

JRH

P.S. the proper way to weed through GA with the most effeciency for this gun would be to search "Savage"..currently you would get 600+ hits...next scroll down and look to your left...here you would click "bolt action"...now you are down to 80 its...this list should be much easier to run through...(BTW..currently there are no 10ML's
