Sako 75 Key System

Does anyone know if you can have the 'key system' in the Sako 75 rifle's bolt removed/eliminated? I have recently bought several of their SM action rifles in short mag calibers and they are thankfully absent of this feature. I keep having haunting thoughts of being on a hunt and the 'key' system failing and me not having a key and then goodbye hunt. Would appreciate any info.

PS If you don't mind please send me the offending keyed parts when you remove them. A buddy of mine is an even bigger PITA to be around than I am (yeah, hard to believe I know). It would be very evil to substitue cocking piece covers on him in the middle of the hunt, and then let him see me pitch one of the keys into a river, or over a cliff.......

They will be happy to sell you replacement "keyless" parts. My memory never was much good, but I think they will nick you for either $125.00 or $175.00. Yikes!
Im not saying that there has been 500 years of inbreeding in the Val Trompia of Italy, but Berretta is a strange company to deal with........(intro to The Twilight Zone, if you please, Maestro).

Just did it on my 75 SS V action. I would suggest buying the parts from Beretta..Shroud and firing pin/spring assembly. 128 dollars shipped and I got it within 1 week of ordering. Carbon steel is 1/3 less. BTW I got way higher prices buying it from Sako dealers then I did from the source plus the guy at the other end of the phone was knowledgeable..

JCN & Sempre, I appreciate the info. Sempre did you just call the Beretta number off of their web site or where? Also do you guys know if this is a user replaceable (above average mechanical ability) job, or will I have to spend some bucks at a smith also. I've got 4 Sako 75's with the key system. Never really liked it but have just left it disabled and haven't thought about it much, but have an out of state hunt planned this year and am considering taking a couple of my .270 wins which have the thing.............got me thinking--maybe too much?
