So I just got my first big bore (CZ-550) and I'm very happy with it minus the lack of a barrel band. Since the barrel band screams Africa I'd really like to have one installed. The factory sights line up and work really well for me, so I'd like to go a route that doesn't involve removing the front sight (not to mention that should save me a few pennies). My question is, given the choice between using a 3/4 barrel band or a barrel band that it soldered (?) directly on to the barrel, which do you think is the better option? I know any change to the barrel can change accuracy, but which option do you think is least likely to do so? Thanks for the expertise. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

richj, I have seen that before, but it looks like you just strap it on the barrel and go. Seems a little iffy (and unstable) if you ask me. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

"Barrel band set fits 760s, 7600 & 6 Pump-Actions; 740, 742, & other .22 caliber & centerfire rifles with .645"-.660" dia. barrels." I don't think that it will fit a CZ550 barrel Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. I did one a short time ago for a client. It had the ramp front sight and I did not want to remove it. I took a Talley and cut it a little above the half diameter point so It would just snap over the barrel, contoured it and soldered it in place with Force 44 Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Jim, Did you have any reports on how the rifle shot before and after the band being installed? My 9.3x64 has a 3/4 barrel band installed, and the rifle is accurate, but it came that way so I have no idea if it changed the rifles accuracy. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris
