| If the bolt face was opened to fit a .610 head of a 45-70 the rim of a 450 marlin is only .529. I would think that would be more of an issue than the magaine follower

| I made a .450 Marlin on a m98 action about a year ago and as I recall it wasn't too difficult to make it feed. Sounds like you will need a new bolt and extractor to start. Bill |

| Ramrod, and Bill, I know you are right about the bolt and extractor. A lot easier to open up the face than to shrink it, and the extractor isn't going to fit on that rimless cartridge either. Any idea where these components are available from?? Rich Quigley |

| I would think a military bolt would be pretty easy to find. Then open it up and replace the handle if needed. I'm not sure which if any other M98 will swap out. Several sources listed here. http://www.mausercentral.com/gunparts.htm

| Quigley Try and find a Siamese Mauser action and try to copy the magazine on it and make it fit your Turk. The Siamese Mauser was made to feed a rimmed case. The magazine slants rearward so the rim of each case in the magazine is ahead of the round below it. This would be a lot cheaper than trying to change to a 450. |

| Quigley, I will trade you a non altered bolt for your altered bolt, even-up. I have been making, for myself, rifles in pistol calibers based upon the turkish mauser. In order to get these rifles to feed out where i can see it, I cut the bolt off just about where it exits the receiver ring. Then I turn an extension onto the barrel and the chamber is in a good place. |
