Rossi Model 92 front and rear barrel sights' dovetail sizes??

I have discovered perhaps the most absurd and annoying technical support and customer service — Rossi/Braztech.

By email for three weeks, and just now by telephone with a human being, Rossi has informed me that the sizes of the two barrel dovetails is not available ANYWHERE from or by Rossi. I left my callback number for a supervisor. I can see Rod Serling walking slowly from our private airfield. He's less than half a mile from the front door.

Okay. I have the Rossi Model 92 imported by Braztech. Since I bought it NIB, it has the current dovetail sizes. Since the Model 92 has changed importers several times, that this rifle is of current import may be important.

If anyone is able to furnish these dovetail sizes so I can order replacement sights, I will greatly appreciate the information.

10mm metric, I think. GPC has rear sites. And front sites for Rossi are like hens' teeth.

I have the hen and the egg; have a new, unfired 44-40 Rossi barrel, with rear sight, for $100. Front sight was part of the barrel band.

I have a rossi 92 in 480 Ruger. I just fished around in my spare sight box, found what I wanted and tapped them in. I didnt realize they were metric.

Front sights of the new one and also another Braztech 92 are inserted within dovetails. The second one has a replacement front sight, so I was unable ferret information about replacement.

Yes, I know; my barrel solves your problem of not being able to find a front sight; there is no front sight on the barrel; it is part of the barrel band.

In my opinion this feature was perhaps the worst feature on the entire rifle.

After a while, that band starts twisting around...

I made myself a little ramp sight and soldered it on the barrel just behind the band.
Good thing I am not a professional smith. Would never make any money at it.

The early Rossi M92's had no dovetailed front sight. The front barrel band held a front sight with a sight blade was pinned into. At least mine was which I bought in the early 80's.

I think dp is saying that he needs not to worry about the dovetail slot size.

Try contacting Steve's Gunz. He is possibly the best Rossi 92 specialist out there. Hopefully he can help you.

Ok, to clear up the confusion; the earlier Rossi carbines had the front sight as part of the front barrel/mag tube band. I never had one come loose. They discontinued that design because you couldn't change the front blade height.
Here is one.
This is why I said it would solve your dove tail problems because there isn't one. The rear sight is the same as now.

Someone at Rossi/Braztech may be helping?? But I 'm unsure.

"Thank you for the serial number, we do ask for this information to verify the model. Dove tail cuts are a Novick standard. Is there anything else I can assist you with today? Have a nice day."

1. I requested widths of front AND rear sight dovetails. This is one? Which one? Or this an answer for both?
2. What is Novick standard dimensionally? How would I use it to identify sights that will install on my current model Rossi Model 92?

As you may be aware, I'm confused and am considering becoming frustrated.

The sight is described as intended for Legacy (distributor) rather than Braztech. Legacy ceased being Rossi distributor perhaps as long as a decade ago. And the root of my problem is that Rossi has changed dimensions on dovetail slots.

Having typed that, I wish it were not so. I wish your measurements were confirmed accurate for Braztech 92s.
