A few weeks ago, Jim Kobe posted pictures of a 257 Roberts he built for me on a Winchester classic short action. I was away when he completed it. Well I finally got home and took delivery. It looks even better in person than in the photos! The wood is drop-dead gorgeous and the details of wood and metal work are wonderful. I am way more than satisfied with this rifle and would commend Jim to anyone comtemplating a custom rifle. This rifle scratches an itch I developed as a very young person reading the likes of Jack O'Connor, Warren Page, and Pete Brown. It will be used for southern whitetails or similar sized game. I wanted the standard Roberts chambering on a short action. But since there is a bit of extra room in the magazine box, Jim reworked the spacer so I can fit brass with 100 grain Hornady bullets seated to the base of the case neck. He throated the Shilen barrel for these dummy rounds. He used Williams one-piece bottom medal and welded on a new McFarland bolt knob. Every thing was done just as we discussed. The project was completed on schedule with prompt communication whenever I had a question. I am a happy camper. Al Spend your life wisely. | ||

Jim's work is impeccable.....but his ability to display photos needs some help. To most that are aware of his skills he needs no photos to show but to those that he might be new to he should find someone to teach him some photography. BTW....he just started posting photos a few months ago so be patient! IMO Jim's work is second to none! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
