M 98Re: Charles Daly Mauser Action vs. M-70 Classic or MRC
you get what you pay for....i have seem both the MRC actions the DALEY actions and im not real impressed with them ...but then my tastes are more refined and paying $3000 for an quality action made by GRANITE ARMS or some body in that league i dont conside excessive considering that i have to look at the action for the rest of my days ...just my take on quality

As stated above, I don't think anybody has actually received any of the LH MkX (a.k.a. "Charles Daly") Mauser actions.
I have a right hand version, and although it is OK, it took quite a bit of work to get there. My choice would be the MRC action, as they seem to be slowly shipping in LH. They come with a 3-pos safety, way better than the MkX trigger safety. The MRC trigger can be safely adjusted down below what a M70 trigger can (manufactured better), plus your chances of getting one which is dimensionally sound is better than with a M70 (at least current M70 production).

KurtCA left handed, stainless mauser action? No such animal. Charles Daly is off in fantasy land.

In all seriousness, don't believe that they are making these until someone actually is holding one in their hands.
Charles Daly has been promising these for several years now, and I personally don't think Zastava in Yugoslavia is up to the challenge. I hope they prove me wrong.

CanadianLeftyAnyone know about the Charles Daly Mauser actions- they seem interesting for a left-handed person like me wanting a stainless steel action. Look at the pic:

At $409, it seems like good value- but how much would it cost for a very good smith to make it function real nice and smooth etc? Would you do this over a MRC or M-70 action? For left hand, it is only available up to 30-06- does this mean it can be modified for any 30-06 length cartridge??

rootbeerI picked up a copy of Shotgun News a few months ago. There is a full-page ad in there for Charles Daly actions and barrelled actions. I'm a lefty; I saw several barrelled actions in stainless to be available toward the end of the summer. Too bad I don't have all the info available to me right now.
Charles Daly was out of the loop for several years because of some international trade crapola that didn't get voted on by our Congress. I think it's a past issue now, but I could be wrong.
As for me, I have a stainless magnum action on order with MRC and am content to wait until they deliver a fine product. Given all the input from wackos like those of us who frequent these boards, it should be very good.
