Very nice action. More info would be nice. What are you going to build on this action?

Tell us and don't be shy [Big Grin]

From who did you get this action

Johan: I have to confess it isn't mine, YET! These are made in RSA, imported into the USA by Butch Searcy & TC Imports, possibly others. I don't know how you'd get one in Sweden.

fla3006,

How much did you or your friend pay for this action? Can you post some more pictures from a different angle? Thanks.

Searcy will sell them for $2000. However thats for the basic square bridge and by the time your done with additional machining, figure $2500. The Vektor is pretty comparable to a Granite Mountain action for about the same price. I have both actions and there is not much difference except the Granite Mountain action has the advantage of a .750 bolt!-Rob

About three months ago, Butch himself told me it was $1600 for the action setup and ready for the 505 Gibbs. Did he raise the price just recently?

The US$ has weakened versus the SA Rand and they are a little more expensive now, about $1800. You can get them set up for 375, 416, 505, maybe others too. The bolt faces, magazines, rails & feed ramps vary. M-70 type safety is $100 more, they can also be ordered w/o square bridges.

Gulp, swallow, more gulp...

Here is what you would pay for a complete Vektor rifle from my local gunshop just over the hill from where I live in Cape Town

Vektor Model 98 , .25 - 06 Rem , $460
Vektor Model 98 , 7mmX57 ,$460
Vektor Model 98 , 7mmX64 ,$460
Vektor Model 98 , .270 Winchester , $460
Vektor Model 98 , .308 Winchester , $460
Vektor Model 98 , .30-06 Springfield , $460
Vektor Model 98 , .300 H&H Mag , $551
Vektor Model 98 , .375 H&H Mag , $551
Vektor Model 98 , 9.3mmX62 , $551

Even if you bought a ticket to come over and collect it yourself it doesn't match those prices for the action alone.

Do they know something about firearms? Well the range of calibres that they offer goes right on up to 155mm. Suitable for use on the 40 km range - comes complete with its own meteorological station to check down range wind/temperature conditions.

Edi: You are comparing apples and oranges. The rifles you refer to do not use the same action.

Hello fla3006 - Yup, it's a typical case of foot-in-mouth. I realised that I had erred seconds after I hit the "add reply" button.

I then did a search to see if I could find prices on the square bridge action but without success. I'll chat to the factory on Monday and see what they charge for these actions in the white.

cheers edi

RSA here we go [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
The prices are very good. How have they made the 300 and 375 rifles. Lengthend a standard action or used a long one [Confused]
I wonder about the big double squarebridge action. This is great [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Johan, I waded through my back numbers of Magnum (our local magazine)and found an article on the action. It is long enough to handle the 375 H&H without any additional work being needed. It seems to be a amalgam of the best features of everyone's K98 copies.

Mingo- At SCI in Reno Butch was advertizing them at 2000. For the basic acytion not a 505 Gibbs. That requires a different box and additional machinng. I'd grab every one I could at $1600.-Rob
