I have a very nice custom rifle that for some reason the original owner did not want any markings on the barrel. I'm looking for suggestions for a gunsmith/engraver that will in nice script mark the caliber and serial number on the gun. Any suggestions are appreciated. My local smith is a hammer and a punch guy.

Check with SSK Industries in Steubenville, OH (about an hour away from you.

They can do cursive script.

I am assuming it has a serial number at present, somewhere?

The serial number is in the track the bolt travels. I don't want to try to explain that to an African customs agent. For the same reason I need to have the caliber clearly shown on the barrel. The gun makers name is stamped in the wood under the barrel. There is not one mark on the barrel itself.

If you have an especially nice rifle, I'd spend the extra money for nicely engraved lettering by someone like Roger Kehr.
