I recently purchased a tika varmint stainless, I love every thing about the gun but the weight and was wondering about fluteing the barrel, can it be done, would it save me much weight, affect accuracy , any thoughts . I know some will say I should have bought a different gun , my brother has a LVSF, I dont like the blind box and it wont shoot with the tikka , at least not out of the box .

I have fluted bbls for people, I don't like it and it doesn't really drop any measurable weight. If you have a long bbl you'd lose more weight by cutting and recrowning. In my opinion fluting looks like crap. Lots of arguments on both sides of the accuracy loss issue, but I would have to lean towards losing some accuracy.

Pinaire does it. They are in Arizona, in the Phoenix area. Unfortunately, I can't give you any further information because I do not have my gun mags where I am right now. This same question was asked a few weeks ago; I gave full contact info in that post.

I like fluted barrels; I think it makes a gun look complete. Fluting also increaes the surface area of the barrel, which aids in cooling.
