A plebe looking for an answer here:

When you square a bolt face (Mod 70/M98), you'll necessarily increase the distance from the bolt face to the back of the extractor blade. Once this happens, how do you remedy this and get that distance back into spec?

Thanks.

In all the bolt faces I've squared I've never removed enough material to make any difference regarding the extractor, usually only .002" or .003" squares up the face.

Thanks John. Just as an aside, is there 'standard' for this distance or do other factors determine this?

Ditto what john said. You're not removing enough material from the bolt face for it to matter.

I'm sure somewhere an engineer drew up a design limit for his extractor but I don't know what it is.
