Question on stainless pistols. Can a stainless steel pistol that is satin or perehaps somewhat finer polished finish be high polished ? What process would be used to accomplish this ? Has anyone done it before ?

You start with the coarsest grit that would match the satin finish and go finer in steps using different wheels and compounds on a stand buffer and/or hand held. Go far enough and it could resemble a mirror, but it is difficult to keep flat surfaces flat and crisp lines. I've polished stainless before, but not on a firearm.
