Is there a straightforward solution to putting a red dot sight on a Ruger No. 1? Without modifying the rifle?

Somebody makes a red dot mount for the Ruger 77, not sure if that will work for a #1. I know the mount is out there as I bought one for our PH and he said it fit the 77 perfectly, sadly I cannot remember who made the mount or where I got it.

Good to know there has been something made for it. The rib on the No. 1 takes the same mounts/rings as the M77.
Thanks.

i put a Millet Reddot on my .458... used the ruger rings... eye relief didn't matter... only problem is that its an 8 minute dot... like a gallon bucket at 50 yds ( or so it seems)...

go big or go home ........

If I recall correctly Ruger 77 rings are two different heights while Ruger #1 rings are the same height.

That's correct. For a red dot, my thought was it would attach to only one of the dovetails. I was assuming the use of something like what's on handguns and some AR rifles these days, hadn't thought of the Millet that jimatcat mentioned.

Burris makes a M77 mount for their small red dot sight. I have one to sell if you can't find one.

Ruger #1 take rings of the same size front and rear..a mod 77 has rings of different heights, the rear ring is the high one..

ruger makes and sells thru Brownells two heights of 3/32 Ivory beads, same in a red plastic bead of same size or at least they did at one time. both for the 77 and No.1...

a good gunsmith can drill out the Ivory on a #1 and make a bead of red plastic and glue it in. actually on about any gun..I had a smith make me Ivory beads with a tiny stem for replacement, same smith that put a the red bead on my Ruger #1 458 some years ago..
