Gene's in league with D'Arcy Echols in terms of quality and craftsmanship, and they are good friends and colleagues. Gene is another Colorado School of Trades graduate, and he also apprenticed under Jerry Fisher as a stockmaker.
I wouldn't be the least-bit afraid of having Gene build any sort of rifle, especially his 'Extreme Hunter'. Like Echols, Gene is a very serious rifleman and deeply experienced big game hunter from the old school, and he does indeed know rifles as do few other craftsmen, and he is an expert hunter who's been on some incredible wilderness hunting expeditions. This experience does indeed make a big difference in the quality of the rifle that he'll be able to put into your hands.
He's not just another practitioner who's producing rifles, running a test-load through the barrel to makes sure it goes bang, then shipping it off to the trusting client, without a foggy clue as to what it's actually capable of. It'll be a broken-in, tested, and proven rifle when you recieve it. It'll be ready to hunt with.
Gene's one of the world's best custom riflemakers, make no mistake about it.........
Thanks Allen! I spent a good deal of time on the phone with Gene yesterday picking his mind about everything. So now I gotta add another riflesmith to my rifle pool.
