Feeding a 30-06 in a Magnum Mauser action

With all the discussions of making Mausers feed correctly is it possible to make the 30-06 feed reliably from a commercial magnum action Mauser, i.e from a 404 to step down to 30-06, assuming I do not have the opportunity to re-barrel?
What would I need to do as the magazine box is wider and the feed rails on the receiver have been opened to accommodate the 404?
Can this conversion to the 06 be made, is it feasible and can it feed reliably?

Any inputs would be most appreciated along with and pictures details etc.

What about the follower too as a it would require a magnum follower I assume?

Thanks in advance

I would sell the action set up for the 404 and buy a std. Mag box would be longer as well.

As usual just my $.02

Makes no economic sense to do this. Sell your magnum action and buy one of the dozens of Husqvarna or FN actions out there already set up for 30-06 - (probably already barreled in 30-06).

Very simple conversion.

Send me the .404 and I will fix it up and send you back a .30-06.

Trade the magnum action for a complete 30.06 rifle.

Agree.

A complete waste of a Magnum action.

You will also find it a PITA to reload
as the stroke on the bolt is longer than
a normal or standard action.

I notice it on my 505 Gibbs so you certainly
will with the 30.06, plus getting it to feed.

Is it a Magnum length action or simply a std lenght action with magnum bolt face and longer magazine to handle the 404. Much like the MKX 375H&H.

You can still send it to me.... Big Grin just saying!

As Paul said, for the money it makes NO sense making anything other than a magnum work in that action for the money.

If you think it was a 404 Jeffery originally I would pull the barrel on it, and start from square one. Makes no sense to even attempt to make anything else work.
