The End Is Near! The end of the Charter Issue pricing for the Left Hand Long Actions and Short Actions at $350.00, that is. We extended it a month or so ago to the end of September. So if you still want to get in on the $350.00 price let us know, otherwise October 1st pricing goes back to normal. We will still be offering the Charter Issue on the Mini Actions and Pro Hunter Actions for awhile until we get to a point that we can start production.

I thought you had repeatedly stated that the charter price would apply for the first 350 units sold, regardless of time frame?

I think almost a months advance notice is acceptable warning. Now I just have to decide what it is going to be, all you right hander's I hope you appreciate all the choices you have.

Thanks for the heads up Dan.

They are waaay past 350 units sold. 350 units was the milemarker to begin the program. That took something like eleven weeks.

Chuck,
The Charter Issue pricing on the Left Hand Long Actions will end at the end of this month also. The reason we went over our initial 500 units of Short Actions at the charter issue price was to make up for lagging sales on the left hand longs.

Dan,

Will the left-handed short action handle a cartridge with the case demensions of the 416 Rigby(cut short for a wildcat)?

Is the bolt-face large enough?

If not, will the PH action have to be used? Will the PH action be available left-handed?

Thanks,

Roger QSL

Roger,
The bolt diameter of the short action is .698", the Rigby is about .604" isn't it? I'm not a gunsmith so I couldn't give you an honest answer as to whether opening up the bolt that far would be safe or not. Maybe some of the "experts" here on the board can give you a better answer than me.

Roger.....the rim diameter of the 416 Rigby is 0.590" and the rim diameter of the short Lazzeroni case is 0.577" and they both use the same size shell holder.

I am curious why you want to go to all the effort to shorten and prep the Rigby case when the short Lazzeroni case is high quality and already available.

Take a look at this article.

http://www.riflebarrels.com/articles/custom_actions/378_weatherby_remington_700_acti on.htm

By the way, the Reminton bolt diameter and the MRC bolt diameter are the same....the one difference is the MRC action won't need to have a Sako-type extractor fitted.

Dan,

Just wait and see if we get any more input from Smith's as to altering your bolt face. Also, is your PH action going to be produced for lefty's?

Bill,

Thanks for the site about converting 700's to the Weatherby or Rigby.

I'm not sure where I read some info as to Lazzeroni not creating a short 458. Something about him not believing enough shoulder could be developed on his case for headspacing. Remember, this is from memory....Hope it's not old fart desease setting in.HI

My thought on developing a short Rigby 458, was just a project in creating a DG round that could be used in a short action rifle. 500 gr. slug at 2150 fps. Short action, faster cycle time after shooting. Overall gun length less, for quicker handling. Most important, a heavy round with less pressure for more positive case extraction. And ofcourse, CRF.

That's been the criteria for this folly, and it seems John Noveske is getting very close to meeting it. Albiet, presure may not be low in his. I'm waiting for his testing to be done to see if I will continue to pursue my round.

The use of the 450 Alaskan style case carried over into Rigby, should also develop into a fine short action cartridge.

Hope this clears it for you.

Call MRC up - I think that special is still running. It would be a bad idea to wait and hope that Dan might spot your post - he does not get on this forum every day.

Check MRC Website for phone numbers and mail addresses.
