Damascus vs fluid steel

I heard or read once that Damascus twist barrels supposedly fired a better pattern than fluid steel barrels.

First off, is that an old wives tale or not?

I am not sure if this was using comparable barrels from 100 years ago. If this was once true, is it still true in the era of modern wads and barrels?

FWIW I do not own any twist barrels, just curious.

I can think of no reason a "twist" barrel would
fire a better pattern. The new wads do seem to help
the paterns of older guns. If find the source of this information please share it.

Good Luck!
