Anyone have pics of their guns after finishing them with Gun-Kote? Looks like good stuff. Any tips/details on the application process would be appreciated. Also, does anyone have experience applying different shades of Gun-Kote in a camo pattern? If so, please share the details of your application process and, if possible, post some pics of those results too. Thanks.

Nebraska, GunKote, in my experience, is brittle and chips easily. This is especially true of corners! So I would strongly recommend, if you are applying it to a chrome moly or ordnance steel firearm, that you phosphate or blue the weapon prior to GunKoting. This will provide superior rust prevention.

I scratches off relatively easily too. This can be an issue if the weapon comes into contact with a rock while you are climbing around.

Other than that Gun Kote looks like a matte blue finish. Application is simple in that you simply spray it on like paint, which is what it is, and then cure it in an oven. The oven must be preheated to 300 F, and the weapon is baked for 30 minutes. You will want o mask off areas that you do not want "painted" like the action lug races and the bore.

Make sure the surface is totally clean and free of any oils, including skin oil. Any contamination on the surface of the metal is going to cause the GunKote to chip and peel.
