I've come across a stainless / synthetic Sako in .338 that's got my wallet itching. The only drawback is that is doesn't have iron sights - and to me, a gun just looks nekkid without 'em! How tough would it be for a gunsmith to install a good set of irons? I notice most stainless barrels runnin' around nekkid, and I figure there must be a reason...there can't be THAT many city slickers out there!

It shouldn't be tough at all. There are a Sh*t load of good iron sights out there just waiting to be installed. The trend these days is for smooth barrels. Gun manufacturers seem to cater towards what sells.
Any gunsmith with a milling machine or a decent sight jig who can locate and drill the barrel dead center without punching through the bore should easily be able to do this.
I was thinking about making a clamp on aluminum front sight for my stainless Ruger. There's a couple of sources for clamp on rear peep sights for that gun, just not anything for the front.
