I really like lighter colored wood/less stain.

And Fleur-de-lis. In fact, I know it's "wrong", but I really like the pre-80's Remington 870 and 1100 stocks. Plus they have enough drop.

FWIW,
Steve

I dislike any rifle that does not conform to my ideas of what a rifle should look like. Now If I could just figure out what I thought a rifle should look like I would be able to critique some of someone elses.

Things that don't work together. Folding leaf express sights on a 270. Scopes on rifles with stocks built for iron sights. Scope bases/rings so high you have to pick your head up off the comb to see through the scope.

I really had to scratch my head a bit on this one. I guess I'm still a romantic at heart...I like white line spacers, red but pads, scroll work-light anyway, and fancy checkering.

Other than a leaf border around the checkering, I'm not a fan of stock carving, especially game scenes (though there is an old sxs shotgun in the safe with oak leafs in place of checkering-I do like that one).

Never been a fan of vertically split rings, crap scopes (there are decent low cost scopes, but we all know what I'm talking about) and TACTICAL ANYTHING ON A HUNTING RIFLE! I even hate the word. That being said, I have a safe full of "tactical" style rigs for varminting and paper punching.

I especially like the fact there's no iron sights so we don't have to have the see-thru rings

One of the worst I ever saw was an H&H built .375 H&H Magnum Mauser square bridge with the square bridge and receiver ring set up with Weaver bases and rings.
