I was poking around Wally world yesterday and saw a single shot rifle by Mossberg SSI, I think. Anyone out there seen shot or used one ? Looked kind of interesting.

I have looked for them, and have never succeeded in finding one! I understand Mossberg has "suspended" manufactureof the SS1. I don't know if this means they aren't going to make any more of them, or have just "taken a break"!!
I saw the literature over a year ago and thought it was a great looking gun and wanted one badly. I've never seen onen real life, but I have a friend who saw one and thought that the fit and finish was poor and the piece was heavy and poorly balanced. I had heard that they were not being built or shipped but I don't know why.

I've seen a couple at different W-worlds here in Knoxville and to say the very least, I am not impressed. The wood sucked (extremely plain, it looked like bad birch), the checkering REALLY sucked (it looked like something I would have done, poor lines and no points), and the fit and finish sucked (looked like brown paint -- Rustoleum, actually). I guess you could say that I thought it sucked. They should rename it the Hoover.....

A couple of years ago I saw one at the Shot Show in Vegas. It was grude, I thought who would want to buy a gun like that. I would not offer it to anybody for sale. But looks can be deceiving. Fred M.

I emailed Mossberg on the status of their SSi-one's and they're only answer was that due to "production issues" they are not manufacturing or selling any more this year.
Whatever that means.
