MileHighShooter1903 magazine?
What is the mag length on the 1903 Springfield? I'm thinking about using one for a 9.5x57mm and just wondering if the box is going to be TOO long. Is it pretty close to the mauser box?

craigster3.400" is what I measured. I have a milled version if you need one. It's bare so you'll also need the floorplate, follower, and spring.

MileHighShooterThanks craigster. I already have the action, but I appreciate the offer!

Toomany ToolsThat cartridge you want will fit just fine in the Springfield magazine.

jeffeosso9,3x62 would fit and feed...
i was in a simular situation about 20 years ago .. built a 358 winchester on a 1903a3, rather than as was reasonablely suggested to do a 35 whelen .. I was, and still am, in love with the 358 winchester ... and its too short for that action and the rounds get somewhat battered.

MileHighShooterSo should I be looking for an old mauser? or a SA? I know its one of those in between lengths, thats why I was planning on using my 1903, so I wasn't limited by a 2.8" box

There's not enough difference in length to really matter but the shorter Mauser would be "better".

craigsterIf I was doing it, I'd use a Mauser action for the Mauser x57 round and save the Springfield for something else. A 35 Whelen, maybe?
