New Haven Model 70 Magazine Question
Hey Guys,
On the NH Mod70s, they offered at least two different magazine boxes for the 375H&H.

In the stainless, I've seen one marked at '1430', and then another marked '1460'.

While both lack the block for the shorter magnums, the 1460 is wider. I've seen the follower associated with the 1430 referenced as 'Narrow', so I'm guessing the made both a Wide and a Narrow version.

Any ideas why or where one application would be better than another?

Weren't the wider boxes intended for the Ultramag chamberings?

iirc, the ultramags had a specific box that was windowed on the sides, for proper staking - but it's been 20 years since then, so i could be wrong

The RUM box is 1480, it’s similar to a 1430 with long notches removed from both top rails.

There’s also a 1440 that’s the same as a 1430 but with the top rails bent slightly inward.

There may be more, not to mention the various followers and springs.

Beats me why Winchester did that, makes feeding a snap or a real PITA.
