So this afternoon, I'm sorting through the barrel scrap pile, and find a NEW 03A3 barrel, that the shoulder has been set forward what appears .100.

Just being bored, I cut the barrel tenon off on the band saw, cut centers, face the tenon, and start cutting a new tenon for a Mauser.

This steel is some weird stuff, couldn't get a decent cut until over 600 rpm, using HSS.

Now I'm wondering if I really want to stuff one of my reamers into this thing....?

Opinions anyone?

I've rethreaded and rechambered at least ten Springfield barrels.Everything went smooth,I encountered no problems in the machining.I would certainly use the barrel.

ime, all 1903 barrels, unless a crawfish hole, can turn into ANTHING in .308 caliber, for nearly any rifle.

and a GREAT 300 savage barrel for a mexican mauser...

if you don't like it, ole' jeffe will send you shipping $$!!
