Converting a short action model 70 classic to intermediate length?

I believe this has been discussed before, at one time, but I can't seem to find any info. Montana rifle company makes, what they call, an intermediate action. They use it for short 308 win based rounds and 55 and 57mm case length Mauser rounds as well. I thinks it's good to 3.1"-ish OAL. I hear that their standard action has the same footprint and hole spacing as a model 70 classic. Does anyone know if their "intermediate/short action has the same footprint and hole spacing as the Win Model 70 short action, as well? If so, I wonder if it might not be to difficult to modify a short action model 70 to handle 3.1" OAL rounds using MRC's magazines and followers. MRC actions use Mauser type breaching rather than cone breaching. Does this make a difference in feeding from the magazine? Thanks.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Looks like Mr. Echols partly answered my questions in the custom rifles section.
