I believe this has been discussed before, at one time, but I can't seem to find any info. Montana rifle company makes, what they call, an intermediate action. They use it for short 308 win based rounds and 55 and 57mm case length Mauser rounds as well. I thinks it's good to 3.1"-ish OAL. I hear that their standard action has the same footprint and hole spacing as a model 70 classic. Does anyone know if their "intermediate/short action has the same footprint and hole spacing as the Win Model 70 short action, as well? If so, I wonder if it might not be to difficult to modify a short action model 70 to handle 3.1" OAL rounds using MRC's magazines and followers. MRC actions use Mauser type breaching rather than cone breaching. Does this make a difference in feeding from the magazine? Thanks. Matt FISH!! Looks like Mr. Echols partly answered my questions in the custom rifles section. Matt FISH!!
