Im looking for a Nice side mount scope mount for my Remington model 30 enfield. It has a one piece aluminum one on it but you cant put a scope in it. It has a old weaver that you have to unscrew the eye piece bell off and slide the scope in. Brownells lists a weaver side mount Any Ideas where I can get a nice mount with rings that open? Rick

What is the make of your current sidemount? Does the top half pivot or detach from the base?

It does not have any markings. But might be an old weaver with 4 screws attaching to the reciever. The whole thing is one piece aluminum . It cups the scope tube with no relief for the scope recticle adjustment boss. The recticle boss on the old weaver scope on it ,is in front of the mount . I will probably get the weaver 2 piece base /ring set up in brownells . It has 4 screws mount to the reciever also, and looks the same screw patteren from the picture, but wondered if anyone made something nicer.

I can't recall any manufacturers besides Williams that made a one piece unit, and I thought they had split rings. Just about all the early mounts with the solid rings were eventually made with a split ring version. I would search E-bay for "scope side mount" and see if anything resembling yours turns up. You may find a split ring version that has matching receiver holes. The best side mounts are made by Jaeger, Griffin & Howe or EAW (Ernst Apel Works). They run several hundred dollars for new ones, but can usually be found on E-Bay for under $100. Lesser quality ones were made by Pachmayr, Leupold, Echo, Williams, Noske, etc.
