I heard a rumor that the Chas Daly (Zastava) actions have had the third safety lug removed as a cost reduction.

I find this hard to believe....can anyone confirm this or kill it as it's kind of important to me.

I heard the same rumour on one of the boards a while back, turned out to be typical internet "knowledge".

Especially on a Zastava action. Sorry, couldn't resist.

IMHO, better the third lug than the guide rib.

seems thewre's no answer to this question....I emailed Chas Daly and asked the same question and no reply from them as well. I'd think if this rumor is false, they'd like to deny it ASAP....

While I'd like to believe that this is merely internet BS, I wouldn't put it past them.....

I haven't heard it anywhere else. Maybe someone got confused with the CD mini-mauser action which has some non-mauser features.

Good point.....actually the mini mauser is totally un mauser like in it's complete design. No guide rib, no third safety lug, no CRF extractor.

I happen to like them but to say they are a "mini mauser" is missing the mark quite a ways.

All our Standard caliber & magnum caliber actions DO have the third lug
by design, the only one that does not is the Mini-Mauser which does not
use the third lug by design.
jph

I just received this email from CD...it confirms that there is no change to the bolt design and to the third lug.
