Would the the Ruger #1 have problems with the rebated rim as far as ejection is concerned? Fred M. zermel@shaw.ca

While I would be inclined to answer no to the question, I would be very quick to recomend the 6.5/06 in plce of the 6.5/284 which I dearly love. The single shot lends itself to the longer cartridge for ease of loading. Ballistics would be nearly interchangable. Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! 308 Sako. I am having my 243Win barrel rebored to 6.5. You can't clean up the 243 Chamber with an 06 reamer. The 284 reamer will or a 264 Win Mag. The length the cartridge should be ok since a 243 works well enough in a Ruger #1. I only wanted to know if there would be any issues with the rebated rim on the 6.5x284? The 6.5x257AI would work ok too. But I like to stay with a standard cartridge. Fred M. zermel@shaw.ca

You could go with the 260 Rem if you want. The cartridge is nothing more then a necked up 243. No need to clean out the chamber just open the neck and rebore to .264". There is only ~ 100/125 fps difference in velocity between the two with same bullet wgt and similar barrel lenghts. ------------------------------------ The trouble with the Internet is that it's replacing masturbation as a leisure activity. ~Patrick Murray "Why shouldn`t truth be stranger then fiction? Ol Joe. Yes I thought about the 260, but I never got too exited about the 260. Also that cartridge is not a bad one and is perhaps the best solution. Fred M. zermel@shaw.ca
