I'm in the market and have been looking around. So far I've found the Dakota ones that seem to have skyrocketed lately and that real nice trapdoor setup that NECG sells. Who else sells these? It needs to be nice, stamped ones need not apply. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

How are they made other than by stamping, casting? I'm serious and not making a joke. All the Niedner type I've ever seen were stamped and were definitely not cheap. I've seen some trap ones that looked cast and they were of good quality but rough finish. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS

Recknagel makes seveal styles that you can buy from NECG. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

The Dakotas sure are pricey. The last one I used was the treebone carving replica of a Winchester plate. I'm going to try one of Beisens next. This is the treebone. ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

I just ordered some from Roger Biesen - checkered steel with a spur. They were $52 each including shipping. Roger said he was making a run this month. Just rec'd a flyer from Max Mc Farlane that his skeleton and plain are available from Brownells. Roger Biesen still makes about the best I've seen and have used the Biesen buttplates for years. The "new" Neidner is cast and really not too bad, but shape is a little "off"...again available from Brownells or direct from Sunny Hill. the folks a Sunny Hill say they are going to "clean up the shape"

Another vote for Biesen, on top of the fact there nice to deal with. Thanks, Doug http://www.biesen.com/

I've used quite a few Biesen checkered buttplates and would recommend them as well. The only gripe I have with them is the screws have a double lead very coarse thread. This makes it difficult to index the slots. You've got to file a bunch off the screw head to change the index much at all. A way to get around this is to have a small pile of these screws to choose from.
