I have a older Ruger M-77 (22-250 cal) target barrel that I bought in the early 90's and would like to put a trigger in that can be adjusted, the factory installed one can not be adjusted down at all. Does any one have any experiance with this Ruger stye and where would be a good place for a after market trigger? Would also like to put a thumb hole stock on it, any ideas here also? Thanks,Tim

Dayton Traister makes a great aftermarket trigger for the Ruger and it is like $50.00 or less... A good thumb hole stock is a boyd's Laminate one... which have to be sanded and finished.. but are very cheap and high quality... if your Ruger is a 77 Mk 2, you can take the trigger out and just sand down the front of it to lighten it up... I have done quite a few like this, with great results... I only screwed up one.. and replaced it with the Dayton Traister... good luck cheers seafire

The original trigger is fairly easy to tune. I still occasionally get M77's in the shop for trigger jobs. You might check with your local guy and see if he can do it for you.

seafire, boyds has some good looking stocks, sent off for there catalog. malm, I just had the gun into our local gunsmith and he said the trigger could not be adjusted on this model, serial # starts with a 78 which I believe was made in 84, thats when I believe I bought it any way. Same time I had him try an do that I had him replace a trigger screw that Ruger sent me for the tang safety, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

The sear engagement is adjustable. The little screw Ruger sent you is meant to replace the overtravel adjustment screw. Find yourself another gunsmith who is familiar with these guns.
